RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas of Chicago has been awarded the 2013 Communicator of Achievement Award by the Illinois Woman's Press Association; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this honor by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas will represent the state affiliate in the national 2013 Communicator of Achievement Competition this summer; and
WHEREAS, The Communicator of Achievement Award is the highest honor bestowed by the National Federation of Press Women; and
WHEREAS, Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas is an award-winning writer who will bring to the national competition a wealth of experience in both communications and public service; and
WHEREAS, Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas has served as President of the Illinois Woman's Press Association since 2009 and as Executive Board Secretary of the National Federation of Press Women since 2011; and
WHEREAS, Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas came to those roles following a highly successful career in government service; and
WHEREAS, Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas served for twelve years as Director of Volunteers for the Department of Cultural Affairs for the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas also served as Chicago Office Manager for former United States Senator Roland Burris; and
WHEREAS, Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas is the author of the book Joliet and was Editor of the award-winning monthly Volunteer Network News; and
WHEREAS, The hard work and dedication of Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of March, 2013, do hereby congratulate Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas on being named a recipient of this honor and express every good wish for her continued success; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Marianne Wolf-Astrauskas.
