WHEREAS, Lambs Farm, is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary with a variety of activities, leading up to a very special evening: Lamias Farm 50th Anniversary Gala, Growing the Legacy, on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at the Hilton Chicago; and '
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this significant occasion by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and ;
WHEREAS, Lambs Farm is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people with developmental disabilities lead productive, happy lives and connecting with the human spirit in us ali; and
WHEREAS, Lambs Farm was co-founded by Bob Terese and Corrine Owen, in 1961, with the belief that all individuals, given the right environment, can lead more productive, fulfilling and meaningful lives; and '.
WHEREAS, Lambs Farm, an innovation since its inception, has grown from a small pet shop on north State Street in Chicago, to a 72 acre campus near Libertyville, Illinois, where opportunity flourishes for nearly 250 men and women; and :
WHEREAS, Lambs Farm moved to the Libertyville site inl 965, when philanthropist W. Clement Stone purchased and donated a dairy farm for the expansion of Lambs Farm; and
WHEREAS, Lambs Farm campus businesses serve as vocational training sites for participants and teach valuable work skills; and
WHEREAS, Lambs Farm provides full-life experience for the men and women served with programs focusing on healthy lifestyles, learning daily living skills, and developing hobbies and interests; and ;
WHEREAS, Lambs Farm offers a variety of services to participants that include employment services, residential options, social and recreational services, and community involvement; and
WHEREAS, Lambs Farm is home and a place that residents are proud to share with visitors; and
