TRIBUTE TO THE LIFE OF MACK EDWARDS JONES SR.

WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called Mack Edwards Jones, Sr., an outstanding citizen and member ofthe community, to his eternal reward, January 6, 2014; and

WHEREAS, This august body has been notified of the passing of Mack Edwards Jones, Sr. by the Honorable Toni Foulkes, Alderman of the 1511 Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born December 20, 1936 in Texarkana Arkansas, Mack was the loving son of Ella and William Jones and the third of four children who blessed the Jones Family; and

WHEREAS, Mack Edwards Jones Sr. attended Booker T. Washington High School in Texarkana, Arkansas. On December 1, 1953 he joined the United States Air Force to serve his country proudly; he achieved the rank of Sergeant; and

WHEREAS, On June 2, 1984 Mack Edwards Jones Sr. received his Bachelors of Arts degree from Columbia University and on May 19, 1996 he received his Masters of Arts from Roosevelt University. In the year 2000, Mack retired from Marcy Newbury Association where he was the director of head start; and

WHEREAS, Symbolic of the strength and solidity of family life, Mack Edwards Jones, Sr. and the former Arnita Roosevelt were united in holy matrimony on November 8, 1957 and to this union two children were born; and

WHEREAS, Mack Edwards Jones Sr. was a loving husband, father brother, friend and neighbor who enriched the lives ofthe young and the old. He will be deeply missed but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who . knew and loved him; and

WHEREAS, Mack Edwards Jones, Sr. was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-four years, Willa; his brother M.W. and his sister, Eleanor. He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory his children, daughter Pamela of Georgia, Mack Jr. and Christian Sr. of Chicago, Victor and James of California; four grand daughters, one grandson, two god grandsons and a host of other relatives and many friends; now, therefor...
