RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, St. Edward School is located in the Mayfair community, and is proud example of the principles of the Catholic faith including care, compassion, and respect; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward, has apprised the City Council of the significant contributions of this noteworthy school; and
WHEREAS, St. Edward School is an integral part of the community, preparing students to contribute productively to society, develop students' academic skills and instill the values embraced by the Catholic faith; and
WHEREAS, Music has been a tradition at St. Edward School for over 100 years. St. Edward's Music Program has been recognized by the Archdiocese of Chicago as one of the best music programs for elementary students in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, St. Edward School has partnered with the esteemed City Wide Symphony Orchestra to create an inclusive music program for all, including public and private school children; and
WHEREAS, Many students that graduate from the St. Edward School music program and go on to join the City Wide Symphony; and
WHEREAS, St. Edward School supports a rich music culture that promotes musical opportunity and upholds the great traditions of the Catholic faith; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor, and members of the City' Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fourteenth day of December, 2016, do hereby extend our heartiest thanks to St. Edward School on their contributions to the music community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to St. Edward School.
