CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO FIELD TRAINING OFFICER PHILLIP WASHINGTON ON RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, On June 19, 2015, Field Training Officer Phillip Washington retired from the Chicago Police Department following thirty-four years of dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Derrick Curtis, Alderman of the 18th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Field Training Officer Phillip Washington, Star #6724, began his illustrious career with the Chicago Police Department on June 8,1981 and retired as a valued member of the 6th District. His presence will be sorely missed; and
WHEREAS, Dedication to and fulfillment of the motto of the Chicago Police Department - "We Serve and Protect" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only on the officers who must daily cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for countless citizens, but also on their family members; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his long and distinguished tenure, Field Training Officer Phillip Washington upheld the finest traditions of the law enforcement community and his hard work, commitment and dedication to duty earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the communities he protected; and
WHEREAS, Field Training Officer Phillip Washington devoted thirty-four years of his life in public service to the people of the City of Chicago and in doing so has personally ensured that the City of Chicago is the safe, healthy and vibrant community it is today; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude to the long and prolific career of Field Training Officer Phillip Washington; now, therefore
