MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR BARBARA JEAN BLOXTON
WHEREAS, God in his Infinite Wisdom has called Barbara Jean Bloxton, most beloved citizen, to her eternal reward on February 11, 2019; and
WHEREAS, this august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Toni Foulkes, Alderman of the 16th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on September 10, 1936 in Mobile, Alabama, Barbara was the adored daughter of the late Norris and the late Autherine Smith. She was the second eldest of five siblings. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, dignity and iove; and
WHEREAS, Barbara attended the Shrine of the Holy Cross Elementary Catholic School in Daphne, Alabama, and continued her education at The Most Pure Heart of Mary High School in Mobile, Alabama, where she met and married (the late) Willie F. Bloxton; and
WHEREAS, Barbara and Willie settled in Chicago to begin their life together and raise a family. They - were blessed with seven children. They owned and operated Willie's Liquors located at 4300 S. Drexel. Barbara was also employed with the United States Postal Service; and
WHEREAS, Barbara was known to be an excellent cook and drew neighbors in for a bowl of her famous
seafood gumbo. Her door was always open and made everyone feel at home. But what she loved most
was nurturing, caring for and spending time with her family. Barbara enjoyed listening to music and

WHEREAS, Barbara Jean Bloxton leaves to cherish her memory: : her children,. : William . (Doris), Caryn (Ozzie), Gerald Sr. (Candice), Kimberly (George), Wanda (Terrell), Stephanie, and Patrice (Anthony); 24 dedicated grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; loving siblings, Carol A. Shoots, and Terry W. Smit; 1 devoted sister-in-law, Hannah Smit; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, ;cousins, friends; and an entire neighborhood who cherished and loved her dearly; and/|109|i ¦ . j
