RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Jean Guy, the beloved former first lady of North Dakota, has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 90; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Jean Guy was the loving and devoted wife of the Honorable William, the late, four-term Governor of North Dakota; and
WHEREAS, Jean Guy was the much-adored mother of William III, James, Deborah, Holly, and Nancy to whom she imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that she possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Jean Guy was an indispensable part of her husband's success during his twelve years as Governor of North Dakota; and
WHEREAS, Blessed with a natural grace, Jean Guy was known for her genteel hospitality and flair for design; and
WHEREAS, Jean Guy generously shared her deep wisdom, loving kindness and unforgettable warmth with both her own family and with those she encountered in the course of her busy life; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Jean Guy serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Jean Guy to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Jean Guy imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
WHEREAS, The warmth, dedication and generosity of Jean Guy serve as an example to all; and
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of July, 2013, do hereby commemorate Jean Guy for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jean Guy.
