RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Karie J. Valentino, a widely admired member of the legal community, will be officially installed as the 102nd President of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois on Wednesday, June 13, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Karie J. Valentino is a partner in the firm of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP where she defends medical malpractice claims against hospitals, physicians, nurses and nursing homes; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated member of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois, Karie J. Valentino is a recognized leader who has co-chaired numerous large-scale events and actively participated in multiple committees during her tenure with the organization; and
WHEREAS, In 2009, 2010 and 2011, Karie J. Valentino was recognized as a "Super Lawyer Illinois Rising Star"; and
WHEREAS, In 2011 Karie J. Valentino was named as one of the "40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch" and was elected as a member to The Society of Trial Lawyers; and
WHEREAS, Karie J. Valentino is a graduate of The John Marshall Law School where she is a Past President of the Alumni Association; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her many professional endeavors, Karie J. Valentino has competed in six Ironman races, multiple triathlons, and more than 20 marathons, including the Boston Marathon and a 50-mile ultra-marathon; and
WHEREAS, The dedication, hard work and commitment of Karie J. Valentino serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fifth day of May, 2018, do hereby congratulate Karie J. Valentino on her installation as the 102nd President of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois and express our best wishes for her continued success and achievement; and
