Resolution
CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO EDITH A. LEVY ON HER 90TH
BIRTHDAY
WHEREAS, Edith (Eadie) A. Levy started her life's journey on August 6, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Hymen Aftergut and Freida Blau; and
WHEREAS, she was the beloved wife of Paul Levy (1940-1980) and Robert Abrams (1985-1997); she is the loving mother of Larry Levy (and Carol) and Mark Levy (and Terry) dear grandmother of Hillary Levy (and John Markowics), Ah Levy, Laura (and Kenny Niebart), Sarah Levy, Elizabeth (and Jake Gantz), Steve Florsheim (and Jenny Friedes), Andy Florsheim (and Trisha), Bobby Florsheim (and Zoe Melzack), great grandmother of Riley, Kaden, Jackson, Bodie, Lindsey, Logan, Saige, Devin and Griffin Florsheim, Grayson Sanchez, Deming and Rylan Gantz, Tristan Gomez; sister of Lillian, Charles, Rose, Manual, Samuel, Arthur and Louis; and an aunt to a host of nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, On February 28, 1979, Eadie moved from St. Louis to Chicago to permanently work with her sons in their company, Levy Restaurants; and
WHEREAS, In 1983, she moved into a condominium at One Magnificent Mile, a building her son Larry developed; and
WHEREAS, Eadie helped to develop the recipes and menus for many Chicago restaurants including: D.B Kaplan's Deli, Hillary's, Chestnut Street Grill, Mrs. Levy's Deli and Fulton's On the River. At age 90 she is still employed at Fulton's On the River; and
WHEREAS, Eadie's first love is her family, she also enjoys world travel, cooking and the family business; and
WHEREAS, Eadie has been true to her motto: "When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade!"; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Brendan Reilly, Alderman of the 42nd Ward where Edith A. Levy resides has been informed this august body of this outstanding citizen and member of her community; and
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled this 6th day ...
