WHEREAS, Lenny Biszewski, an outstanding public servant and member of his community, has chosen to retire on December 31, 2012 as a Revenue Investigator for the City of Chicago Department of Revenue after fifty one years of dedicated service to the people of this city; and
WHEREAS, Lenny started his tenure with the Police Department in 1961 serving as a Patrolman for thirty five years. Among the positions held were that of a uniformed body guard to Richard J. Daley; being an "extra" police officer in the movie "Continental Divide", and being personally thanked for a job well done by President Ronald Regan. He began his second career with the City of Chicago Department of Revenue in 1996 until 2012. He also served four years with the US Coast Guard, prior to his time with the city; and
WHEREAS, The police have the very essential job of ensuring the safety and order of their community. These sworn officers have an important role in protecting lives and property, maintaining order and enforcing all laws accurately. Lenny served as a faithful public servant under eight different Mayors of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Lenny will retire after fifty one years of service to spend more time with his wife Jean; three children, Sharon, Amber, and Blake; and five grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Lona Lane, Alderman of the 18th Ward, has apprised this august body of Lenny Biszewski's significant milestone; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this twelfth day of December, 2012 A.D., do hereby salute Lenny Biszewski for his many years of dedicated service to the safety of this city and extend our very best wishes for health, happiness, and success in any future endeavor.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Lenny Biszewski.
