RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Peter Joseph Wacks has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 79; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his p assing by Alderman EdwardM. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Peter is survived by his wife Margie Malone and his brother Michael Francis Wacks, loving son of the late Elizabeth and the late Peter J. Wacks, Sr., fond cousin to the Cox, Rhodes, and Jensen families; and
WHEREAS, Peter was a graduate of Canisius Jesuit H.S. and Canisius Jesuit College in Buffalo, NY. He received his Juris Doctorate from Syracuse Law School; and
WHEREAS, After law school Peter entered the Federal Bureau of Investigations in 1966 as a Special Agent, and due to mandatory retirement Peter left the Bureau in 1997 with 31 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Sp ecial Agent Wacks was one of the catalysts behindthe historic Operation Pendorf and Operation Strawman cases, responsible for dismantling the Midwest mafia's dominance of the Vegas hotel and casino industry by toppling mob regimes in Chicago, Kansas City and Milwaukee for hidden ownership and theft; and
WHEREAS, Prior to working the Chicago field office, Special Agent Wacks comp leted a tour of duty in Jacksonville, Florida where he investigated bank robbery cases; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Peter Joseph Wacks imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City
Council, assembled this Nineteenth day of February, 2020, do hereby
commemorate Peter Joseph Wacks for his grace-filled life and do hereby express
