CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO SAUGANASH WOMAN'S CLUB ON ITS
NINETIETH ANNIVERSARY AND PROCLAMATION OF NOVEMBER 10, 2016 AS "SAUGANASH WOMAN'S CLUB DAY IN CHICAGO"
WHEREAS, The Sauganash Woman's Club, located on Chicago's great northwest side, is celebrating its 90th anniversary at their annual gala on November 10, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this prestigious occasion by Alderman Margaret Laurino; and
WHEREAS, The Sauganash Woman's Club was founded in 1926, when twenty-seven women gathered together, under the leadership of the founding President Mrs. Owen O'Malley, for the purpose of supporting philanthropic projects and promoting sociability. Funds raised by the Club are donated to worthy, needful charities, as well as community endeavors, earing the Sauganash Woman's Club and foundation a very well-respected place in the community; and
WHEREAS, The Sauganash Woman's Club's many accomplishments over its ninety year history include: rolling bandages for the war effort and for cancer patients, sending children to camp, endowing special causes, supporting local charities, and providing scholarships; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Sauganash Woman's Club continue to give back to the community by volunteering with food pantries and supporting families in need; and
WHEREAS, The Sauganash Woman's Club is regularly recognized for their gracious contributions to the community and has lived up to their anniversary motto "In the Spirit of Giving"; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this first day of November, 2016, do hereby express our sincerest congratulations and pride in the accomplishments of the Sauganash Woman's Club as they celebrate their ninetieth anniversary; and
