A RESOLUTION OF RECOGNITION FOR PASTOR OLGA IRIS MONTANEZ
WHEREAS, Rev. Olga Iris Montanez has served the congregation and community of the Church of God Lemoyne with devotion and faith since August 18,1978 when she was installed as Pastor under the supervision of the administrative Bishop Rev. Hector Camacho; and
WHEREAS, the Church of God Lemoyne will honor and celebrate Rev. Montanez and her family for Pastors Appreciation Day at the Church of God Lemoyne, 3301 West Lemoyne Street, on September 20, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this important event of public appreciation by the Honorable Roberto Maldonado, Alderman of the 26th Ward; and
WHEREAS, born on September 16, 1939 in Puerto Rico to Rafael Maldonado and Providencia Otero, Rev. Montanez is the sixth child of 21 children to bless this couple with her beauty, grace, and love for her fellow man; and
WHEREAS, her passion for preaching and love for God's work began at a young age when she would often find herself preaching to her attentive audience of plantains and coffee growing on her father's estate; and
WHEREAS, in 1962 Rev. Montanez graduated from the Church of God Mission Board Institute in St. Just, Puerto Rico and in the same year Reverend French, General Supervisor of the Church of God Mission Board in Puerto Rico, gave Pastor Olga her credentials and the authority to execute her missionary duties before she assumed the position of missionary in the Church of God at stop 14 in Santurce, Puerto Rico; and
WHEREAS, the following year, on February 23, 1963, Rev. Montanez married her , true love, Brother Jovino Montanez and the couple was blessed with three handsome sons, Marcos, Marvin and Ismael; and
WHEREAS, before her installation as Pastor of Church of God Lemoyne, Sister Olga served as missionary of the congregation and taught at Church of God Institute and Sunday school; and
