WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned ofthe death of Captain Patrick Joseph Steiner, DC, USN, DDS, on February 19,2016, at the age of fifty-five; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born in Chicago on February 2, 1961 this loving son of the late Nicholas and Patricia Steiner, nee Hogan, was the devoted father of Alexander and Victoria; cherished brother of Michael Steiner, Julia Steiner, Dorothy Glodo and Mary Elizabeth Furman; fond uncle of thirteen nieces and nephews; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Captain Steiner leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, Captain Steiner was an active and vital member of his community, having graduated with honors from Notre Dame High School in Niles, Illinois; completed his undergraduate studies at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and attended dental school at the University of Illinois, in Chicago. He joined the United States Navy on May 21. 1989; completed Officer Indoctrination School in Newport, Rhode Island, reported to 23 Dental Company, 1st DEN BN, 1st FSSG, Twentynine Palms, California; attended Prostodontics Residency training at Naval Postgraduate Dental School (NPDS) in Bethesda, Maryland. Upon completion of his Prostondontics Residency training, in 1993, Captain Steiner completed a fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics Residency at NPDS, and was deployed to Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. Additional tours include the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74) in Afghanistan and Kuwait. Most recently, from 2009 until 2015, Captain Steiner served as the Brig Consolidation Officer and the Area Dental Laboratory Department Head at Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California; and
