RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, R. Bruce Duchossois has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 64; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, R. Bruce Duchossois was one of four children born to Beverly and Richard Duchossois of Flossmoor; and
WHEREAS, R. Bruce Duchossois possessed an exceptional combination of accomplishment and humility, joy of life and kindness; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished and celebrated horseman, R. Bruce Duchossois was a stalwart supporter and active member of the horse community in both Aiken, South Carolina and Wellington, Florida; and
WHEREAS, R. Bruce Duchossois gained national attention when he competitively rode his famed hunter, Kim's Song, in 1973 to win the American Horse Shows Association Horse of the Year; and
WHEREAS, The victory aboard Kim's Song was considered both the launch and the highlight of R. Bruce Duchossois' equestrian career; and
WHEREAS, Over the next four decades R. Bruce Duchossois earned a reputation as one of the nation's leading exhibitors in the highly competitive Adult Amateur Hunter division and won numerous championships and circuit awards; and
WHEREAS, R. Bruce Duchossois was inducted into the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame and was a Director of the National Horse Show Association; and
WHEREAS, R. Bruce Duchossois was also an Executive Board Member of the Equestrian Aid Foundation which honored him with its Luminary Award; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared R. Bruce Duchossois to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, R. Bruce Duchossois will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
