RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Florence Stoller has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 99; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Florence Stoller was the loving wife of the late Nathan; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of Russian immigrants, Florence Stoller was the Founder and President of the Jensen Park Community Organization and a pioneer in Chicago's Alternative Policing Strategy Program (CAPS); and
WHEREAS, Florence Stoller and her husband purchased a home near Jensen Park in 1952 and was proud of her long history of volunteerism and civic involvement; and.
WHEREAS, Florence Stoller embraced the vitality and diversity of her Northwest Side community and often greeted new neighbors and helped them assimilate; and
WHEREAS, Florence Stoller led neighborhood clean-ups and beautification projects and received the Green Thumb Award in the 39th Ward for her constant vigilance; and
WHEREAS, Florence Stoller was known as the unofficial "mayor of the Albany Park community" and in 1992 the Chicago City Council designated the 3700 block of Eastwood Avenue as the Honorary Florence Stoller Way; and
WHEREAS, In 1999 Florence Stoller was inducted into the Chicago Senior Citizens Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Florence Stoller serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Florence Stoller to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To her two sons, Myron and Seymour, her sister, Yetta, her six grandchildren and her eight great-grandchildren, Florence Stoller imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
