CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO MICHAEL ERDELYI ON ACHIEVING RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT
WHEREAS, Michael Erdelyi has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, scouting's highest rank; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this significant occasion by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout is achieved by only two percent of young men who enroll in the scouting program. In order to become an Eagle Scout, a Scout must earn twenty-one merit badges in addition to completing several community service projects. Michael Erdelyi has completed all requirements and has been examined by an Eagle Scout Board of Review who has certified his worthiness for this highest scouting distinction; and
WHEREAS, Michael has been a member of St. Cornelius Holy Name Society's Troop 949 for the past seven years; and
WHEREAS, Michael's Eagle Service Project was an electronic recycling event held at his high school, Notre Dame College Prep, where he was able to recover 5,900 pounds of electronic recycling for proper disposal. He also collected over two hundred twenty five cell phones for soldiers; and
WHEREAS, Many Eagle Scouts have grown up to become great leaders in diverse endeavors such as Astronaut Neil Armstrong, former US President Gerald R. Ford, former US Senator William Bradley, former major league baseball player Albert Belle and Chief Executive Officer of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, Sr.; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this thirteenth day of March 2013, do hereby extend our heartiest congratulations to Michael Erdelyi on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and wish him every success in any and all of his future endeavors; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Michael Erdelyi.
