A City Council Resolution Honoring the Life of Eddie L. Jones II

WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called Mr. Eddie L. Jones, II, an outstanding citizen of Chicago's 8th Ward, to his everlasting reward a few days ago, and he recently returned to the heavenly realm on May 27, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Eddie L. Jones II went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2019. He is the oldest son of Eddie Lee Jones, Sr„ his Father, who survives him and His Mother, the late Rosie Lee Jones. He was born on March 27, 1952 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, He attended elementary school in Cotton Plant for 2 years before they migrated to Chicago IL in 1959. In Chicago he attended Robert's Temple C.O.G.I.C. with his mother and siblings. Being educated in the public school system, he attended Mayo Elementary School and Wendell Phillips High school where he graduated with his HS diploma in 1970. He went on to continue his studies at Western Illinois University where he graduated in 1974; and
WHEREAS, Eddie was blessed with three children by his high school sweetheart Dorothy A. Smith. He is survived by his children Iesha (Jones) James, Matthew Jones and Meghan Jones respectively; and
WHEREAS, Eddie was also a proud and doting Grandfather. H
e enjoyed spending time with Vess, Kalei, Kaitlyn and Kaylin. He looked forward to his trips to see them and they loved to see their Grandpa walk through the door; and
WHEREAS, Eddie leaves 7 siblings, Catherine Shipp (Dan Shipp), Katie M. Thomas (Arthur Thomas), John H. Jones, Richard Jones (Pamela Jones), Paul Jones, Sylvia A. Jones and Rochelle Jones. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews; many who he's given their own special loving nicknames.
