RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING FAITH INC. COMMUNITY ADVISORY GROUP TO THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS DISTRICT 1
ON 16 YEARS OF OPERATION
WHEREAS, FAITH Inc. Community Advisory Group celebrates 16 years of service on May 1, 2015; and
WHEREAS, this esteemed body has been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, For Action in Togetherness Hold Fast has been assisting the Austin community in Chicago for 16 years, to help rehabilitate the formerly incarcerated and acclimate them back into society to become accomplished members of the community; and
WHEREAS, the FAITH, Inc. Community Advisory Group meets on the first Friday of every month to provide recourses and support for men and women coming home from incarceration; and
WHEREAS, one of the primary efforts of the members of FAITH, Inc., has been to assist the formerly incarcerated in obtaining identification, such as social security cards, state identification, and driver's licenses, among others, in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Corrections District 1; and
WHEREAS, an often overlooked step, obtaining proper identification is crucial to the process of rehabilitation and necessary for finding employment, securing a place to live, and other steps in the reintegration process; and
WHEREAS, since opening, FAITH, Inc. has helped over 50,000 men and women find a community, and is an invaluable resource by giving back to the community in a measurable, practical and compassionate way; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this sixth day of May, 2015, do hereby congratulate FAITH, Inc. Community Advisory Group on 16 years of service, and extend our wishes for continued success.
