RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Donald Kent has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 84; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Naperville, Donald Kent was the loving husband for 58 years of Mary; and
WHEREAS, Donald Kent was the much-adored father of John, Michael, Bob, Steve, Greg, Dave and Sue and the grandfather of 12 to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A native of Aurora, Donald Kent was raised in Downers Grove and graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in business administration; and
WHEREAS, Donald Kent worked for 10 years for the Arthur Andersen accounting firm and became a certified public accountant; and
WHEREAS, Donald Kent joined Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago where he was Executive Director for 34 years; and
WHEREAS, During his long and highly distinguished tenure, Donald Kent launched the organization's housing initiative that built nearly 30 residential buildings for low-income residents; and
WHEREAS, Donald Kent also brought a corporate structure to the agency which included health care for employees and a pension plan; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Donald Kent serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Donald Kent was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Donald Kent imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of October, 2016, do hereby commemorate Donald Kent for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
