A Resolution Honoring Daisy Robinson
 
WHEREAS, Ms. Daisy Robinson has been a musician, composer, teacher, and mentor for most of her ninety-four year lifetime; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Robinson began her musical career at the historical Liberty Baptist Church located at 4849 South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive before studying at the Chicago Conservatory College and Roosevelt University; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Robinson traveled the country playing churches and universities with famous folk singer Charles King; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Robinson was the founder and director of Youth Vibrations, which was a popular group of young singers who performed at the Olympic Theatre and Royal Albert Hall in London; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Robinson has arranged and published two children's books of spirituals with motivational lyrics; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Robinson was the founder, owner, and director of Melody Way Music Studio located at 8833 South Stony Island Avenue for over 25 years; and
WHEREAS, It is clear that Ms. Robinson's gift of music and her influence on the musical and spiritual development of young people in Chicago is beyond calculation; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we the Mayor and the City Council of Chicago gathered here this twenty-fourth day of July, 2013 do hereby express our appreciation for the many positive contributions Ms. Daisy Robinson has made to the people of Chicago; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this Resolution be presented to Ms. Daisy Robinson
