RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, On the evening of May 16, 2016, a drug-related altercation between two men resulted with the death of a 28 year old Chicago resident; and
WHEREAS, Arriving at the scene, 17the District Police Officers discovered the victim lying on the ground with gunshot wounds; and
WHEREAS, The Officers immediately commenced a neighborhood search, quickly apprehending the armed gang member responsible for the victim's death; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of the outstanding police work of the 17th District Police Department by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Being a Police Officer is an honorable yet often thankless profession. The Chicago Police Department's 17th District serves and protects Chicago's Northwest Side, covering nearly ten square miles and over 150,000 residents; and

WHEREAS, The dil igence and rapid response of 17th District Police Officers lead to the arrest of a violent criminal, and is evidence of the Police Department's tireless commitment to ensuring security and peace in the 17th District and the City of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, The officers of the 17th District, led by Commander Elias Ramirez, embody the slogan of the Police Department, "We Serve and Protect"; and

WHEREAS, The City Council commends Sergeant Ed Agron, Star #1670; Officer Jack Pierre Huayamave, Star # 18892; Officer Noe Sanchez, Star #6439; Officer Nicole Hoffman, Star #11517; Officer Joseph Alfaro, Star #13813; Officer Alex Acevedo, Star #15760; Officer Charlotte Gonzalez, Star #10830; Officer Michael Chatham, Star #18555; Officer Robert Combs, Star# 18544; Officer Sargon Oshana, Star #10878; and Officer Stephen Findysz , Star # 17730, for extraordinary teamwork and skilled, heroic efforts; now, therefore,
