RESOLUTION




WHEREAS, Howard Mendelsohn has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Howard Mendelsohn was a giant in the field of public relations in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Howard Mendelsohn enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces at the age of 17; and
WHEREAS, Howard Mendelsohn trained as a gunner on B-24s in Texas but did not see action because the war ended before he was sent overseas; and
WHEREAS, Howard Mendelsohn graduated with a degree in speech from Columbia College and founded Mendelsohn & Company in 1957; and
WHEREAS, Howard Mendelsohn built his firm on strong ethical standards and enjoyed a wide network of friendships; and
WHEREAS, Howard Mendelsohn's clients included Ford Motor Company, Universal Pictures, CBS Broadcasting, Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Lucille Ball, Sammy Davis Jr, George Gobel and Jack Benny; and
WHEREAS, A true gentleman, Howard Mendelsohn was a longtime member of the Publicity Club of Chicago and served as its President from 1970 to 1971; and
WHEREAS, Howard Mendelsohn was also a veteran member of the Variety Club of Illinois and produced and publicized five Muscular Dystrophy telethons; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Howard Mendelsohn serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Howard Mendelsohn to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Howard Mendelsohn imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
of this resolution be
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable cop; presented to the family of Howard Mendelsohn.
