RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Honorable Rodney Ellis has left the Texas Senate after 26 years and has been elected to serve as Precinct One Commissioner of Harris County, the third largest county in the nation; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Houston, the Honorable Rodney Ellis graduated from Texas Southern University and the University of Texas Law School; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Rodney Ellis represented the 13^th Senate District from 1990 to 2017 until his election as a Precinct One Commissioner; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Rodney Ellis graduated from Texas Southern University and the University of Texas Law School; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Rodney Ellis serve as an example to all; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-second day of February, 2017, do hereby congratulate the Honorable Rodney Ellis on his exemplary career in public service and his election as Precinct One Commissioner; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,. That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorabkr'Rodney Ellis.
