RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dr. Frederick Malkinson has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Evanston, Dr. Frederick Malkinson was a highly distinguished member of the medical community and the loving husband for 36 years of Una; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frederick Malkinson was the much-adored father of Philip, Carol and John, the grandfather of two and the step-grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frederick Malkinson was the Founder and first Chairman of the Department of Dermatology for what is now Rush University Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, During his 50-year career, Dr. Frederick Malkinson pioneered the use of radiation to treat skin diseases and the use of audiovisual teaching aids to better educate medical students; and
WHEREAS, The son of a dentist, Dr. Frederick Malkinson was raised in Hartford, Connecticut, and attended Harvard College, Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard Medical School; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frederick Malkinson came to Chicago where during the late 1960s he worked his way up to become an associate professor and research associate; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frederick Malkinson was recruited by Rush and soon established the first Dermatology Department where he served as its Chairman until the early 1990s; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frederick Malkinson was the hospital's Clark W. Finnerud, M.D. Professor and Chairman from 1981 to 1995; and
WHEREAS, In addition to medicine, Dr. Frederick Malkinson was an avid history buff and was active in the Evanston Public Library and a Past President of the Chicago Literary Club and; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Frederick Malkinson serve as an example to all; and
