PUBLIC ALLEY OPENING TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago ("City") is a home rule unit of local government pursuant to Article VII, Section 6 (a) of the 1970 constitution of the State of Illinois and, as such, may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs; and
WHEREAS, the City can enhance public access by opening new rights of way or widening existing rights of way; and
WHEREAS the City seeks to open and widen a portion of the north/south alley in the block bounded by W. Edgewater Avenue, W. Hollywood Avenue, N. Ashland Avenue and N. Hermitage Avenue; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. The opening of public right of way described as THAT PART OF LOT 2 IN EDGEWATER PROPERTY ONE SUBDIVISION A RESUBDIVISION OF LOTS 1, 2 AND 54 THROUGH 61 AND PART OF LOT 3 IN BLOCK 4 IN ASHLAND AVENUE AND CLARK STREET ADDITION TO EDGEWATER RECORDED JANUARY 13, 1994 AS DOCUMENT NUMBER 94046611, DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: BEGINNING AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF SAID LOT 2, THENCE NORTH 89 DEGREES 57 MINUTES 05 SECONDS WEST ALONG THE NORTH LINE OF SAID LOT 2, ALSO BEING THE SOUTH LINE OF W. EDGEWATER AVENUE, 1.00 FOOT; THENCE SOUTH 00 DEGREES 13 MINUTES 43 SECONDS WEST 25.00 FEET; THENCE SOUTH 89 DEGREES 57 MINUTES 05 SECONDS EAST 1.00 FOOT TO A POINT ON THE EAST LINE OF SAID LOT 2, (ALSO BEING THE WEST LINE OF THE NORTH-SOUTH 16 FOOT WIDE PUBLIC ALLEY) IN BLOCK 4 AFORESAID; THENCE NORTH 00 DEGREES 13 MINUTES 43 SECONDS EAST ALONG THE EAST LINE OF SAID LOT 2, (ALSO BEING THE WEST LINE OF THE NORTH-SOUTH 16 FOOT WIDE PUBLIC ALLEY) 25.00 FEET TO THE POINT OF BEGINNING, IN COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
