RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Wesley Fox has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 86; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Blacksburg, Virginia, Wesley Fox was the loving husband for 56 years of Dottie Lu, nee Bossinger; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Fox was the much-adored father of three daughters to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Fox was a retired Marine Corps Colonel and a recipient of the Medal of Honor; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Fox first fought in the Korean War and received a Purple Heart; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Fox was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism during the Vietnam War as part of Operation Dewy Canyon which resulted in heavy casualties and was one of the Marines' major offenses of the war; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Fox retired from the military in 1993 and served for eight years as a Deputy Commandant of cadets at Virginia Tech University; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Fox authored three books, including "Marine Rifleman," "Courage and Fear: A Primer" and "Six Essential Elements of Leadership"; and
WHEREAS, The bravery, sacrifice and dedication of Wesley Fox serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Wesley Fox imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of December, 2017, do hereby commemorate Wesley Fox for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wesley Fox.
