RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, James L. Brodie has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-four; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, James L. Brodie was a proud military veteran and a retired member of the law enforcement community; and
WHEREAS, James L. Brodie was the much-adored father of Alexander, Audrey and Jeanne to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, James L. Brodie was the dear brother of Doris Rubin and the late Louise Cooper; and
WHEREAS, James L. Brodie enjoyed a long and highly successful career with the Chicago Police Department where he served as a Detective; and
WHEREAS, James L. Brodie was also the Director of Public Safety for the Oak Forest campus of Cook County Hospitals; and
WHEREAS, A respected leader in the field of law enforcement, James L. Brodie was a Past President and Life Member of the South Suburban Association of Chiefs of Police, the Illinois Security Chiefs Association and the International Association for Healthcare Security 85 Safety; and
WHEREAS, James L. Brodie served his country during the Korean War and was a Past Commander of the A.L. Brodie American Legion Post; and
WHEREAS, James L. Brodie was a Professor at Governor State University and an instructor at South Suburban College, City Colleges, at City Wide Institutes and at the Chicago Police Academy; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of James L. Brodie serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared James L. Brodie to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, James L. Brodie will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
