MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING MS. MARTHA JEAN HOOPER

WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom has chosen to call His precious daughter, Martha Jean Hooper, home to her eternal reward, Friday October 4, 2013; and

WHEREAS, On March 7, 1941, in Coffeeville, Mississippi, Sammie and Velma Hooper were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Martha Jean whom they affectionately called "Jean'*; and

WHEREAS, Martha graduated from Central Elementary School and Central High School. She later attended and graduated from LaTee's Beauty School and Dennell Nursing School. She worked in various hospitals and nursing homes while living in Illinois and in Mississippi. She was a caring and giving person who gave selflessly of time and energies; and

WHEREAS, Martha Jean Hooper accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and participated joyously with the Elm Grove Church's congregation in Mississippi. Martha enjoyed listening to Gospel music and loved spending quality time and taking care of her daughter, Debbie; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Martha Jean Hooper will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her. Her father Sammie Hooper, three brothers, Sammie, Jr., S.W. and Bobby Hooper, one sister, Dorothy Hooper, having preceded her in death, Ms. Martha Jean Hooper leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate her life, her loving mother, Velma Hooper; three daughters, Mary, Debbie and Felecia Hooper (Larry); one son, Maurice Hooper (Akucia); three grand daughters, Alecia, LaTasha Hooper and Ajoi Kerby; one grandson, Maurice, Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Zakiya Devault; seven sisters, Essie Thomas, Bertha Murrell (Bobby), Mary Hooper, Dianne Turner, Tisha Cruthirds, and a special sister, Alderman Carrie M. Austin; two brothers, M. Larry Hooper and Robert Armstrong (Brenda), a host of nieces, nephews and many friends, and one special son, Jermaine Turner; and
