RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Earlean Mary Williams Jacobs, on June 29, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Anthony A. Beale, Alderman of the 9th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Earlean was born on October 11,1942, to the late Bessie and Otis Williams in Duncan, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, She attended Holy Angels Grammar School and St. Elizabeth High School, going on to attend City Colleges for two years. Earlean also received a certification from the Labor Education Division of Roosevelt University; and

WHEREAS, Earlean was united in holy matrimony to the late Benjamin Jacobs on August 6, 1983, to their union were born five children, Karen, Darren, Bryan, Kenya and Bennie Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Earlean spent thirty years working at Michael Reese Hospital, holding various roles including Admissions Clerk and Chief Union Negotiator. She eventually retired from Mercy Hospital; and

WHEREAS, She was active in her community as a member of the Board of Directors for Park Shore East, Lady of the Glove for the Red Hat Society, and the matriarch of the Holy Angels Church Choir; and

WHEREAS, Earlean accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She continued her spiritual journey throughout her life, attending St. Dorothy Parrish and faithfully attending bible study every Thursday night; and

WHEREAS, Earlean loved to travel and spend time with her family, and she received a tremendous amount of joy from helping those in need; and

WHEREAS, Earlean leaves to cherish her memory her children, Karen, Darren, Bryan, Kenya and Bennie Jr.; siblings, Ocie, Denise, Eric, Glenn, Anthony, Bill Jr., Lester and Doris; grandchildren, Jalissa, Bryonna and Rahsaan; great-grandchild, DeSean, nephew Einm; cousin, Chester Wilson; and a host of loving family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Earlean touched the lives of all who knew her through her love of Christ, kind heart, a...
