RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, in His infinite wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Michael Devon Ricks, an outstanding citizen and member of his community; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Anthony Beale, Alderman of the 9th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Michael Devon Ricks was born July 11, 1978 to Doris Teresa Ricks and Milton Taylor in Chicago, Illinois, and attended Daniel Hale Williams elementary school and Hyde Park Career Academy High School; and
WHEREAS, he accepted Christ at an early age at the Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Dr. Joseph B. Felker; and
WHEREAS, a valued and hardworking employee of Vertical Joyride Elevator Company, DTR Construction and the Chicago Housing Authority, he was beloved by his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Michael displayed remarkable maturity from a young age and demonstrated early on his responsibility toward others, commitment to his family, and loyalty to those he called friends; and
WHEREAS, although he will be deeply missed, the memory of his character, generous spirit, and steadfast devotion to others will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 17th Day of June, 2015, do hereby express our sincerest sorrow upon learning of the passing of Michael Devon Ricks and extend our deepest condolence to his family and loved ones.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Michael Devon Ricks.
