RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard Hohs has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-three; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard Hohs was a widely admired suburban elected official and the loving and devoted husband for sixty-two years of Alice; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard Hohs was the much adored father of Don, Ron, Catherine, Susan, Linda, Joan, Patricia and Jean, the grandfather of twenty-nine and the great-grandfather of eight to whom, he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Morton Grove, the Honorable Richard Hohs graduated from Niles Township High School and bravely served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard Hohs enjoyed a thirty-five year career with Dean Foods Company as a transportation engineer and retired in the early 1980s; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, the Honorable Richard Hohs displayed a great dedication to the betterment of his community; and
WHEREAS, From 1948 to 1965, the Honorable Richard Hohs was a member of the Morton Grove Volunteer Fire Department and rose to become Assistant Fire Chief; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard Hohs was first elected as a Village Trustee from 1971 to 1975 and was then re-elected from 1979 to 1988; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard Hohs ably served as the Mayor of the Village of Morton Grove from 1988 to 1996; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of his many remarkable civic contributions, the Village of Morton Grove named a fire station located at Lincoln and Callie Avenues in his honor; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Richard Hohs serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Richard Hohs to his family members, friends and all...
