RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Harry T. Mahoney has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-eight; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Wheaton, Harry T. Mahoney was a retired member of the Central Intelligence Agency and the loving husband of Marjorie, nee Locke; and
WHEREAS, Harry T. Mahoney was the much-adored father of Elizabeth, Paul, Matthew and Sarah and the cherished grandfather of thirteen to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Born in Oak Park, Harry T. Mahoney served his country as a First Lieutenant in the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Following his honorable discharge, Harry T. Mahoney graduated from Elmhurst College and Northwestern University Law School; and
WHEREAS, Harry T. Mahoney worked at a prominent Chicago law firm and in the emerging field of polygraph testing before joining the Central Intelligence Agency; and
WHEREAS, For twenty-five years, Harry T. Mahoney served as an undercover operative in Latin America and Africa and rose to become a Senior Operations Officer; and
WHEREAS, Fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese, Harry T. Mahoney worked under the guise of being a Foreign Service Officer with the State Department; and
WHEREAS, After retiring from government service, Harry T. Mahoney later accepted a position with McDonald's Corporation as Director of Corporate Security for the Midwest Region where he served until 1987; and
WHEREAS, Harry T. Mahoney was also a prolific author who, along with his wife, penned more than a dozen non-fiction books on espionage and its history; and
WHEREAS, A man committed to excellence who maintained a high level of integrity, Harry T. Mahoney gave of himself fully to his family and was a loyal friend to many; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Harry T. Mahoney serve as an example to all; and
