MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned ofthe death of Norbert B. Bialek, of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, on January 28, 2014, at the age of eighty-nine; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born on September 30,1924, Norbert was the loving husband of the late Jeanette, nee Augustyn; devoted father of John, Paul, Peter (Janita), Janet Jackson, Anne (Salvatore) Lombardi, Elizabeth (Daniel) Harris, Susie (Mark) Wiemeler, David (Stephanie) and Julie (Paul) Kokkin; treasured grandfather of Jarrett (Gwendolyn) Bialek, Dwight Jackson, Dennis Jackson, Jane Bialek, Andy Bialek, Matthew Bialek, Ellen Bialek, John Kokkin, Grace Kokkin, Caroline Kokkin, Edward Bialek and Joseph Bialek; cherished great-grandfather of Madelynn Bialek; dear brother-in-law of Alice Bialek and Alfrieda Augustyn; dear brother of the late Edward, Eugene, William, Frank, Leon, Henry, Chester, Anna, Helen and Herminia; friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Norbert leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, Norbert, Class of 1942 graduate of Weber High School, in Chicago, went on to attend St. Joseph's College in Indiana and then graduated from DePaul University in 1950. He was also a World War II Veteran and a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He will always be remembered by his family and friends as a gentle soul, a great provider, an accomplished chef and a friendly local business owner. He was an active and vital member of his community who touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, heart and spirit; and

WHEREAS, Norbert will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
