MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Joseph Edwards, most beloved citizen, to his eternal reward; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Deborah L. Graham, Alderman of the 29th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Edwards was born on July 22, 1927 to delighted parents, Edward and Anna Edwards. Joseph confessed to Christ at an early age and respected and worshiped God through his own vision and insight throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, Joseph earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education, and went on to earn a double Master's Degree in Advanced Education at the University of Minnesota. He spread his love of learning throughout the community by serving as a chemistry teacher in inner-city high schools for thirty-seven years, earning many certifications and accolades in the process; and
WHEREAS, Joseph was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Lula Edwards in 1968. Their union was blessed with two children: Fidel and Felisha; and
WHEREAS, He served his country during the Second World War as a Military Policeman; and
WHEREAS, In this time of grief, Joseph's family also celebrates his life and cherishes his memory. He leaves behind a close family and community who will miss him dearly: wife Lula, son Fidel, daughter-in-law Jamila, daughter Felisha, son-in-law Lionel, grandchildren Fidel Clayton, Darius, Nijah, Nikea, Jamari and Fatima; special cousin Josephine McKinney; sisters-in-law Ethel, Readia, Fredia and Oria; and brothers-in-law Robert, Walter and Ocie; and
WHEREAS, Joseph touched the lives of all who knew him through his generosity, unconditional love and his spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
