MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Fannie Lee Chambers home on March 29, 2015; and
 
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Born on August 17, 1937 to the union of Dave and Geneva Allen in Sharon, Mississippi, she spent her childhood in central Mississippi going to school and working along-side her father, who was a sharecropper; and
 
WHEREAS, she moved to Chicago in search of a better life and found a community of support in her neighborhood on Chicago's West side; and
 
WHEREAS, Fannie was a tireless provider for her family, always ensuring their success and happiness with encouragement and support, and creating a home rich in love and joy; and
WHEREAS, she will be missed greatly by those she is survived by. her son, Ben, Jr, her six daughters, Velma, Gloria (Zack), Agness, Ruby, Tammie (Landon) Lakisha, twenty-one grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and
WHEREAS, although she will be deeply missed, the memory of her kindness and compassion live on in those that knew her loved her; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this sixth day of May, 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Fannie Lee Chambers, and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Fannie Lee Chambers.
