Memorial Resolution for Doug Bostic
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this chamber learned of the departure of Doug Bostic on November 24, 2016; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Doug Bostic was born on January 27, 1944; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bostic was a long time activist on the West Side; and
WHEREAS, He was very involved in the 100 blocks/100 churches movement, the Healing Corner and Nobel Neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bostic was active in CAPS in the 11lh and 25th Police Districts; and
WHEREAS, In the last few months, Mr. Bostic has stoically endured failing health; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bostic leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Peggy, and his son Larry; and
WHEREAS, Doug touched the lives of all who knew him through his love of people and commitment to improving the community. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fourteenth day of December, 2016, do hereby express Our sorrow on the passing of Doug Bostic and extend to his family our sincere condolences.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Doug Bostic.
