RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Farzin Parang has announced his departure from City Hall where he has ably served as a top aide to both Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Mayor Richard M. Daley; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Farzin Parang earned his undergraduate degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, While studying in Chicago, Farzin Parang received a fellowship and began an internship at City Hall in Mayor Richard M. Daley's Office; and
WHEREAS, Farzin Parang earned his law degree from Northwestern University where he volunteered at the school's legal clinic and served as a Senior Editor at the Northwestern Journal of International Laxo; and
WHEREAS, After earning his J.D., Farzin Parang went on to join the law firm of Dykema Gossett PLLC where he focused on business problem-solving, commercial finance, mergers and acquisitions, and securities regulation; and
WHEREAS, Farzin Parang left Dykema Gossett PLLC on April 1, 2010, to return to City Hall as an Assistant to Mayor Daley's Office of Intergovernmental Affairs; and
WHEREAS, Farzin Parang served as a liaison between the City Council and the executive branch and played a leading role in helping to move the Mayor's legislative agenda forward at City Hall; and
WHEREAS, With the election of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Farzin Parang remained on staff as Legislative Counsel to the Mayor within the Office of Legislative Counsel and Government Affairs; and
WHEREAS, Widely admired for his efficiency, professionalism and communication skills, Farzin Parang was named Deputy Director of that office on February 1, 2014; and
WHEREAS, During his highly distinguished tenure in the Mayor's Office, Farzin Parang worked on firearm regulation, ethics ordinance reforms, streamlining the License Code, modernizing the Sign Code to address digital signage and five municipal budgets; and
