RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Anthony J. Rudis has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 101; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Anthony J. Rudis was a widely respected leader in Chicago's Lithuanian community and the loving husband of the late Mary P.; and

WHEREAS, Anthony J. Rudis was the much-adored father of Anthony Jr., Margarita, Mark, and Rosemary to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, From 1941 through 1993, Anthony J. Rudis served as a founder, partner and officer for Rockwell Engineering Company, Inc. of Blue Island, a company that was a steel fabricator for the nuclear power industry and the United States Department of Defense; and

WHEREAS, Anthony J. Rudis was a former President of the Lithuanian-American Council, and worked to build a church in Lithuania and a seminary in Lomza, Poland; and

WHEREAS, Anthony J. Rudis was an active participant was a Past Chairman of the International Trade Club of Chicago, a Director for the Illinois Manufacturer's Association and Founder of the National Strategy Forum; and

WHEREAS, Anthony J. Rudis was also a generous supporter of Holy Cross Hospital, Nativity BVM Church, and Maria High School; and

WHEREAS, Anthony J. Rudis moved in his retirement to Monee; and

WHEREAS, In 2003, Anthony J. Rudis donated land and funds to Loyola University for the study of the Lithuanian Constitution of 1579; and

WHEREAS, Anthony J. Rudis has traveled throughout the world during his lifetime to such destinations as Europe, China and the Far East; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Anthony J. Rudis imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled this seventeenth day of January, 2013 do hereby commemorate Anthony J. Rudis for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences ...
