Resolution Honoring Lifeline Theatre's 30-year Contribution to Chicago's Cultural Sector and the City of Chicago
WHEREAS, Lifeline Theatre is a corner stone of Chicago's arts sector, supplying original literary adaptations of the highest artistic quality, removing barriers to arts access through community outreach programs, and increasing appreciation and demand for arts engagement through early childhood education initiatives; and,
WHEREAS, Lifeline Theatre continues to develop Rogers Park into a burgeoning arts district, attracting over 10,000 theatre and local business patrons to the Glenwood Avenue Arts District each year; and,
WHEREAS, Lifeline Theatre provides over 250 jobs a year to Illinois residents, over 150 of whom are actors, designers, and teaching artists; and,
WHEREAS, Lifeline Theatre has brought to life over 100 world premiere literary adaptations, including our MainStage: Pride and Prejudice (1986), The Tolkien Trilogy (1995-2001), A Wrinkle in Time (1998), Whose Body? (2001), The Picture of Dorian Gray (2008), The Mark of Zorro (2009), Treasure Island (2009), Neverwhere (2010), The Moonstone (2011); and,
WHEREAS, Lifeline Theatre has brought to life theatre for children through its KidSeries: The Rescuers (1989), the Click Clack Moo series (2004-2013), The True Story of the Three Little Pigs! (2007), Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2008), Arnie the Doughnut (2011), and many more; and,
WHEREAS, Lifeline Theatre's Artists-in-Residence program has provided a free arts education to more than 600 Rogers Park CPS elementary students each year, for the past 23 years; and,
WHEREAS, Lifeline Theatre removes barriers to arts access for over 3,000 community members a year through its Arts for All program, offering local families the opportunity to attend the theatre free of financial barriers; and,
