CONGRATULATIONS TO SAUGANASH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THE 5/6™ -7/8™ CROSS-COUNTRY TEAMS ON THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS AT THE CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOL SCORE! CHAMPIONSHIPS

WHEREAS, Sauganash Elementary School's 5/6th and 7/8,h Grade Cross Country Teams had a very successful 2018 season with several members earning the opportunity to compete in the Chicago Public School Score! City Championships in Washington Park on Saturday, October 27th, 2018; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of their accomplishments by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Monserrath Perez, 5th grader, after only two years in the sport, placed first in her event, running a 6:23 minute mile and exceeding her own personal best; and

WHEREAS, Five additional 5/6,h grade girls, Andrea Paz, Maeve Lally, Mia Ivancic, Mia Nudo, and Sofia Voss, also ran a personal best time enabling them to receive a 9th place win as a team; and

WHEREAS, The other committed and hardworking members of the 5/6th and 7/8th Cross Country Teams who attended the Championships included: Vince Jops, representing the 5'6,h Grade Boys Team, who ran a 7-minute mile; and Brendan Urganus, from the 7,h/8th Boys Team who ran 1.5 miles, for a personal record of 9:51.36, which is a 6:35 minute pace; and

WHEREAS, Through dedication, immense effort, team spirit and sportsmanship, these young people achieved great success and earned the admiration and pride of their coaches, families, and the whole Sauganash School Community in the 2018 cross country season; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twelfth day of December, 2018, do hereby express our heartiest congratulations to the entire Sauganash Elementary School and wish them well in all their future endeavors; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Sauganash Elementary School and the 5/6,h and 7/8th Grade Cross Country Team...
