RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, In a time where Chicago has never seen more violence, unrest and organized looting all across our City; and,
WHEREAS, It is the duty of all elected officials in the City of Chicago to do whatever they can to protect the safety and freedom of all Chicagoans; and,
WHEREAS, The general fear and safety on all levels, and public perception of insecurity is the undercurrent of all things unstable in our City, must be addressed; and,
WHEREAS, Students, parents, the elderly, commuters, professionals, and visitors to our great City are afraid to travel by foot, car or public transportation; and,
WHEREAS, Businesses across our City have been subject to unyielding criminals, many on the brink of failure contemplating their future in Chicago; and,
WHEREAS, The continued attacks against Chicago's collective safety will impact our residential real estate, current and future investments in our communities, and our City's future economic development; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That, That we, Members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, on behalf of all Chicagoans call on Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to declare the City of Chicago to be in a State of Emergency, and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Council ofthe City of Chicago additionally call on the Governor of Illinois to mobilize the National Guard to augment and assist the Chicago Police Department at the direction of the Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department and the Mayor of the City of Chicago for a duration no less than four months.
