MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom has called Laurance Ann Carlisle, most beloved citizen and friend of her community, to her everlasting reward on September 28, 2014; and

WHEREAS, This august body was informed of Mother Laurance's transition by the Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman ofthe 34th Ward and Chairman ofthe Committee on Budget and Government Operations; and

WHEREAS, Born to the union of Reverend Tommie Lee and Lula Mae Little on June 6, 1936, Laurance was the eighth of fourteen children, and accepted Christ at a young age, joining the congregation at Porter Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Raleigh, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, On June 7, 1956, Laurance united in holy matrimony to her husband, Alex Carlisle, and their family grew with five children: Cheryl, Sheila, Deirdre, Phillip, and Kenneth; and

WHEREAS, The caring and kind matriarch of her family, Laurance remained committed and devoted to her husband, and raised her family in the teachings of her faith. A mother figure to the youth in her community, she was called upon for advice and wisdom, admired and revered by many; and

WHEREAS, The loss to her family and community can not be understated, and Laurance will be deeply missed by many, but the memory of her character and compassion with live on in those who love her; and

WHEREAS, Mother Laurance leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, devoted children, Cheryl (Darro), Sheila (Stephen), Deirdre, Phillip and Kenneth; siblings, Tommie Little, Lamae Little, Laura Byrd, Jeanette Rose, Carolyn White, Tempia Lavender, Richard Little and Luther Little; 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by one sister, Margie Hanley and brothers, William Little, Johnny Little, and Charlie Little; now, therefore
