MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR PAZ MAGNO SALADINO
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Paz Magno Saladino on Monday, February, 25, 2017 at the age of 99; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on January 24, 1918, Paz is survived by her children, Selmo, Carlos, Ret CPD (Nancy), and Mario; her grandchildren, Selmo Jr., Jennifer (Joe) Bellanca, Stephanie, Angela, Michael, CPD (Sarah), Christopher, CPD (Jennifer, CPD), Nicholas and Joseph, Local 63 (Tegan); her great-grandchildren, Anthony Bellanca, Dominic Bellanca, Marco Bellanca, Mia Bellanca, Zachary Rector, Thomas Wallman, Giana Karnuth, Laila, Ava, Emma and Evan; many nieces and nephews. Paz was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Selmo; son, Pedro; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Paz leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Paz tirelessly donated her life in the Filipino American Community and was a dedicated advocate and one of the Co-Founders of the Jose Rizal Center. Paz touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, compassion and vivacious spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
* Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and member of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-ninth day of March, 2017, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Paz Magno Saladino and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
