CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO J U LI ANNE SACCO ON RETIREMENT FROM THE NORTH PARK VILLAGE NATURE CENTER
WHEREAS, Julianne Sacco has retired as Director of the North Park Village Nature Center; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career from 2007 to 2017, Julianne managed the staff of the nature center and preserve that served over seventy five visitors per year. Julianne helped to manage over one hundred fifty nature center volunteers which in turn helped to double the staff's capacity for restoration and education reach and impact in programming; and
WHEREAS; Amongst her many accomplishments, Julianne successfully brought in two grants that helped pay for a new pollinator garden as well as an oak savanna demonstration project. She helped shepherd the development of Walking Stick Woods and the Forest Play School, which provides outdoor learning and play activities for pre-school kids throughout the school year; and
WHEREAS, Julianne collaborated with the US Forest Service to enhance nature center education programs on Monarch Butterflies and Openlands to replace dying ash trees for preserve restoration projects, establishing the savanna habitat. Julianne was also on the board of the Chicago Audubon; and
WHEREAS, Julianne's passion, hard work and commitment to her job have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Her presence and guidance will be sorely missed; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this sixth day of September, 2017, do hereby express our gratitude and our heartiest congratulations to Julianne Sacco and we extend our very best wishes for her continued success and fulfillment; and
