RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McManus has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy-two; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McManus was the loving husband of Ginny, nee Dwyer; and
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McManus was the much-adored father of Laura and Kathleen and the grandfather of one to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McManus was the son of the late Thomas and Beatrice; and
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McManus was the dear brother of Kathleen and the late James; and
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McManus was a former General Superintendent of the Chicago Department of Water; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Thomas J. McManus upheld the finest and most noble traditions of public service; and
WHEREAS, For more than fifty years, Thomas J. McManus was a loyal member of the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Union - Local 130, where he retired as Business Agent; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Thomas J. McManus serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Thomas J. McManus to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McManus will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Thomas J. McManus imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of December, 2013, do hereby commemorate Thomas J. McManus for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas A. McManus.
