CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO PASTOR SNIRLY FRED SIMPSON
WHEREAS, this year, Pastor Snirly Fred Simpson, Sr., celebrates 40 years as pastor of Mount Ridge Missionary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, this esteemed body has been made aware of this occasion by the Honorable Bob Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward; and
WHEREAS, born in Sunflower County, Mississippi, the oldest of twelve children, Pastor Simpson relocated to Chicago in 1958; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Simpson attended the Chicago Baptist Institute from 1973-1976, where he served as president of the Student Council, establishing himself as a leader and a scholar in his community; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Simpson has served as pastor for forty years and under his leadership the church membership has grown from 50 to 300, a true testament to his gift of delivering the Lord's message in a compelling and touching way; and
WHEREAS, besides his leadership at Mount Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, he is also presently serving as Chairman of a number of conventions and volunteers his time to several organizations; and
WHEREAS, with a fierce commitment to his family as well as his congregation, Pastor Simpson is a fine example of someone who embodies the teachings of the church: a man deeply rooted in family, and a mentor and role model to many; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eighteenth day of March, 2015, do hereby express our gratitude for the forty years of leadership of Pastor Snirly Fred Simpson.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor Snirly Fred Simpson.
