RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dr. Andrew T. Parsa has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 48; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, An innovative and pioneering Chicago neurosurgeon, Dr. Andrew T. Parsa was the loving and devoted husband of Dr. Charlotte Shum; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Andrew T. Parsa was the much-adored father of Julia, Micheline and Ismail to whom he imparted many- of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Born in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Andrew T. Parsa graduated from Yale University and SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn and completed his training in neurosurgery at Columbia University; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Andrew T. Parsa served as the Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Feinberg School of Medicine where he specialized in complex tumors of the brain and spine; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Andrew T. Parsa was widely respected for his groundbreaking research into activating the immune system to fight cancer; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Andrew T. Parsa joined Northwestern Memorial Hospital in 2013 after serving as Vice Chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of California at San Francisco where he specialized in removing patients' tumors and creating vaccines from their malignant masses; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Andrew T. Parsa was known as a "triple threat" because of his dedication to training, patient care and medical research; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Andrew T. Parsa also led a clinical trial to safely remove rare brain tumors at Northwestern; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Andrew T. Parsa serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dr. Andrew T. Parsa to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
