RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Marist High School Girls' Volleyball team has won the Illinois High School Association state championship, marking the first time the team has won the title in the school's history; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this historic victory by Alderman Matthew O'Shea and Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Marist High School is a Catholic preparatory school located in die Mount Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago and is operated by die Marist Brothers on behalf of the Archdiocese of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Marist High School won the tide on November 11, 2017 after defeating Minooka High School in the championship game held in Redbird Arena at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Marist clinched die hip to the state tournament widi a win over Motiier McAuley on November 3 in a supersectional match; and
WHEREAS, Previously the RedHawks defeated Bloom High School and Lemont High School to win the regional tide; and
WHEREAS, The team roster, headed by Coach of the Year Jordan Vidovic, included Molly Murrihy, Natalie Davidson, Katie Mather, Abby Callahan, Grace McGrath, Katie Canavan, Grace Reilly, Katie Hogan, Camryn Hannah, Savannah Thompson, Anne McKeruia, Katie Doah, Mattie McCabe, Maggie Meyer, Grace Green, Maddie Arundel, Mairead Boyle and Avery Jedry; and
WHEREAS, The talent, leadership and dedication of die members of die Marist High School Girls' Volleyball team serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeendi day of January, 2018, do hereby congratulate the Marist High School Girls' Volleyball team on achieving this momentous victory; and
