RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Honorable Terrence J. "Terry" O'Brien has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 64; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Terry is survived by his wife, Julie (nee James) for 33 years, proud father of Kevin, Therese and Patrick, beloved brother of Cathy (Bill) Eggebrecht, Greg O'Brien, John (Jean) O'Brien, Bill (the late Mary Carol) O'Brien, cherished son of the late William and Mary Therese, fond brother-in-law, an awesome uncle to many nieces and nephews, and dear friend of many; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in Rogers Park, Chicago, Terry attended grade school at St. Hilary's, Loyola Academy High School, and John Carroll University in Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Terry moved to Edgebrook, Illinois with his wife Julie in 1989 where they raised their three children and became members of St. Mary ofthe Woods Parish community; and

WHEREAS, In 2012, Terry retired as Commissioner ofthe Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago after 24 years, and 16 years as President; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure, Terry instituted the (800) 332-DUMP pollution hotline for citizens to report illegal dumping of materials into sewers and waterways; and

WHEREAS, His professional accomplishments were countless, but his greatest achievement was focusing on the completion ofthe Deep Tunnel; and

WHEREAS, Terry never missed a Board of Commissioner^ meeting in his 24 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Upon his retirement, the Northside Treatment plant was renamed "Terrence J O'Brien Water Reclamation Plant honoring his years of hard work and dedication to the people of Cook County and the employees ofthe District; and

WHEREAS, In 2016, Terry founded the O'Brien Network, LLC, which offered a range of services to its clients from business development, governmental relations, consulting services, coalition building and project oversight; and
